About us

Our Story

It started with a dream to create a top-notch online fashion accessory and gift shop for men where our fans can buy hand-picked champion products for themselves, their friends and/or partners.

It is challenging and very time-consuming for someone with a busy schedule or a family to find unique gifts or fashion accessories for a man or themselves. We want to free up your time and create a quick, unique, and convenient online solution for you.

What the word "bloke" means

The word bloke is a slang term for a man or guy, used mostly in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The earliest known usage of the word is from the early 19th century when it was recorded as a London slang term.

Why the name That Bloke?

The brand name That Bloke was chosen because of its masculine origin, memorability and the simply glorious feeling it creates when you pronounce the word "Bloke".

About the founder

Born, raised and still residing in Pretoria (located in sunny South Africa), the Founder Stefan Marais is passionate about retail, unique products, and of course e-commerce and online shopping.

As a creative advocate and idea-driven person, Stefan found it very challenging and draining working as a company employee and often got bored quite quickly doing the same routine work over and over again.

The hunger for personal growth and development soon overtook his desire for the comfortable 8 to 5 work day. He started thinking about his passions, experience, and skills and how he could use it to start a new venture.

In 2018, after countless research, brain-storming ideas and realising that it was now or never, he started an online shop for men called That Bloke.

Your greatest asset is your existing passion, the skills you already have and, most of all, your own personal story ~ Daniel Priestly
